In the flicker of the old projector, Anna noticed her own childhood birthday—yet neither she nor Max had any memory of it. Dust danced in the stale air as forgotten faces gazed out from the shadows at the back of the screen, their shapes blurring the line between film and reality.
Max reached for Anna’s hand, but she didn’t move, eyes locked on a scene where their parents argued in a language she never knew they spoke. The reel kept spinning, even after the auditorium fell silent, and Anna whispered, "Did you ever wonder why they never let us in this room before tonight?"
